Hoots Man-It’s Burns Night (tomorrow)

Nothing like a Hamilton House jig to warm you up on a chilly January Burns night celebration. Well that a wee drap of whisky, or, just stick to the golden stuff-neat!

However you choose to celebrate Burns Night-enjoy (and be drink aware!)

A lasting memory is having to learn ‘Too a Mouse’ at school;

Wee, sleekit, cow’rin, tim’rous beastie,
O, what a panic’s in thy breastie!
Thou need na start awa sae hasty
Wi bickering brattle!
I wad be laith to rin an’ chase thee,
Wi’ murdering pattle.

which is fine, but I’m not sure my kids (or anyone else for that matter) are too impressed every time I still prattle it out…

On a more interesting note, it does mean I get the reference to the fabulous Timorous Beasties; http://www.timorousbeasties.com/ whose provocative and surreal textiles and wallpapers get my vote every time. And of these, the traditional Thistle design is a lasting favourite;

Now where did I leave those gorgeous Harris Tweed and velvet quilts to wrap round my shoulders to nip outside when cooling down after dancing a stomping Dashing White Sergeant?

Jo Bradbury wedding photographer will be at Bride, the wedding show at Tatton Park on 1-2 Feb 2014

My talented and glamorous friend; Jo Bradbury, is a wedding photographer and will be at Bride, the wedding show at Tatton Park, Cheshire on 1-2 Feb;

Photo: I will be exhibiting at the Tatton Wedding Show on 1st and 2nd February (this is the premier wedding show in the North West) and I have 10 complimentary tickets to give away, message me if you are interested!

Incidentally, all the fabulous images of my quilts have been taken by Jo and Jo will be showing my yellow velvet quilt on her stand at Tatton; as modelled here by Rufus the cat;

quilt&cat3(However, all the photos of cute Rufus and my yellow velvet quilt were taken by his owner Mike, also a wedding photographer. See previous post; https://lisawatsonquilts.wordpress.com/2013/09/30/model-of-the-day-is-rufus-the-cat/

I don’t wish to confuse you, but I do wish to be honest!)

A British made Harris Tweed and velvet quilt is just so an ideal wedding gift in 2014 for brides and grooms. x

And, if you are getting married in 2014, visiting Bride, the wedding show at Tatton park on 1-2 Feb is an ideal starting point for arranging your big day.

And,  if you do go to Bride, don’t forget to say hello to Jo, at stand 224, as well. x

Open Call for British Designer at Liberty of London

Can it really be only a week since the Open Call for British Designers at Liberty of London.

I really enjoyed the event, had lots of fun with my queue buddies and got to pitch my quilts to Ed (the MD) and Julie (head of the Liberty Christmas shop who suffered a bauble crisis).  So thrilling to see all the lovely characters from the C4 Liberty show. http://www.channel4.com/programmes/liberty-of-london

Ed liked the bold orange and hot pink with purple tartan Harris Tweed quilt best!
